Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an ME - Serial Process Engineer Expert to join our A320 Manufacturing Engineering department based in Mobile, AL.

This job holder will be responsible for transferring their manufacturing engineering know-how to the expanding manufacturing engineering team in the FAL Mobile as a trainer, coach, and process expert. The position will support team expansion and to ensure all training needs for the team are met. This covers all means needed for shop floor execution: engineering technical information/changes, quality control, measurement tasks, components / parts, jigs & tools, maintenance tasks, health & safety, etc.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance for Standardized Work and Manufacturing Engineering Dossier: 50%

  • Drive implementation of 1st installation with required shop floor feedback loops

  • Create / update / prioritize routings / BOM / SOI taking into account shop floor needs, time calculation, and work preparation golden rules in accordance with applicable Airbus processes.

  • Specify industrial assets (Jigs, Tools, Tooling, Machines...) requirements for creation or modification.

  • Release work orders and manage discrepancies.

  • Jigs & Tools improvement & ordering.

  • DQN management (BM + MBM).

  • Management of DocEvent.

  • Management of Delta 2.

  • Late changes, Combi-routings, KITs, Dispolist, Freestock, Flying consumables.

  • A2019, 80T, CDS, SI.

  • SAP master data (PAM and PDA), TAKSY, technical notes.

  • Logistic, ME SA FALs (Hamburg, Toulouse and China), Airbus Plants, Program planning, Configuration Management, ESAO.

  • Continuous Improvement: 30%

  • Identify and implement process improvements in order to reduce cost or mitigate risks to the product or people.

  • Regularly incorporate feedback from the Production team.

  • Product Development Projects: 20%

  • Support new customer versions (HoV and variants).

  • ARP introduction for Mobile team as it relates to ME SPE.

  • Other expansion projects for team

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate as an active team member including providing orientation support to new colleagues and trainees.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for issues raised by the team (escalate to HO ME SPE as required).

  • Serve as ME PE Team focal to Project teams.

  • Serve as Delegate for HO ME PE as required in case of absence or schedule conflict.

  • Attend meetings and make technical decisions on behalf of HO ME SPE within predefined context.

  • Create/manage project KPIs for ME Team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Your boarding pass:

  • At least 6 years of ME experience in Airbus SA FAL Process Engineering group.

  • Proven experience in training newcomers in the ME environment.

  • Ability to follow a training plan always focusing on teaching.

  • Able to systematically control the training progress by the use of defined KPIs.

  • Capacity of tailoring the pre-defined training plan according to the local needs.

  • High degree of flexibility, initiative and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the SA FAL process, especially in manufacturing engineering.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in manufacturing engineering.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous participation and/or the ability to successfully pass the following Airbus Courses:

  • Airbus Gen Fam (General Familiarization).

  • Airbus SA Familiarization (EL01)

  • Airbus Manufacturing Systems AMS

  • Quality Management for Self-Inspection (QS1)

  • Corporate Presentation Skills

  • Occupational Health and Safety

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in manufacturing engineering.

  • Knowledge of supply chain management and quality system management.

  • Knowledge about non-conformities and design query notes.

  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Knowledge of Airbus Industries electrical processes & methods.

  • Knowledge of Airbus Industries mechanical process & methods.

  • Knowledge of Airbus IT-Tools (TiCon, Zamiz, TAKSY, MODA, DocMaster).

  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM).

  • Knowledge about aircraft structure installation.

  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practice.
