Job Overview

We are seeking an Associate Engineer, Design to join our engineering design team in our Huntsville, AL location.

This candidate will perform a variety of professional mechanical/aerospace design engineering tasks of a conceptual design, detailed design, analysis, or development nature of Solid Motor Propulsion, Controllable Solids Propulsion, and/or Air-Breathing Propulsion field.

This position can be filled at this level or one higher.

Aerojet Rocketdyne is growing in The Rocket City, Huntsville, AL! Essential Functions
After orientation and training, performs entry-level professional engineering assignments under close supervision and following established policies. The position requires some 
professional judgment and a limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories and concepts.

Typical responsibilities include:

50% - Applying theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of basic analytical engineering problems, correlates and analyzes data, and follows operations
through a series of related detailed steps or procedures.

20% - Assisting in preparation of reports, presentations and documentation. 10% - Follows established/standard policies and procedures on details of work and makes preliminary
selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

10% - With continuing development and experience, receives more difficult problems and supports more complex work. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other
professionals in the assigned section or group.

10% - Performing a variety of engineering tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff and Aerojet Rocketdyne programs, methods
and practices.
Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. An advanced engineering degree is a plus. A strong mechanical aptitude and experience with CAD software tools is desired (PTC CREO preferred), as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Hands-on experience with mechanical systems is strongly preferred (aerospace, automotive, aircraft or machinery).

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
