Job Description

SUMMARY

Provide research engineering support for research, analysis, and investigations in supporting design, preparation, execution, and analysis of studies and experimentation; selecting, installing, and maintaining instrumentation; performing laboratory procedures, field studies, testing, and research activities; and other scientific and administrative tasks in fields such as aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or other related field with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a small team and assign tasks to develop research work plans, proposals, data collection and analysis and agreements.
  • Develop testing procedures and data collection necessary to execute project goals.
  • Acquire, analyze, and evaluate data gathered during research and assures accurate and complete documentation protocol execution within timelines of research plans.
  • Compile and review the work of the team members to provide final products (presentations, publications, etc.).
  • Ensure record of all laboratory procedures and research project data, data analyses, and conclusions of analyses in government-authorized notebooks and electronic systems in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of scientific and administrative tasks.
  • Ensure all team members follow laboratory safety and biosafety requirements, in coordination with laboratory supervisor, director, investigators or other relevant staff.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering related field such as electrical, biomedical, mechanical, biomechanics, physics, etc.
  • Must have a minimum 8 years of experience in biomedical engineering or clinical.
  • Experience in laboratory procedures, testing and research activities, and other tasks in fields such as aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or another related field.
  • Demonstrate experience and skill with a large variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures through publications.
  • Must have experience leading junior level team members.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience in Post Mortem Human Subjects (PMHS) research, quality assurance and Biosafety Laboratory Level 2 good laboratory practice.
  • Must be able to read, understand and execute techniques and procedures within the quality standards and timelines prescribed by the research plan.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives at one time.
  • Strong written communication skills and a solid understanding of Government contracting and the professional services industry.
  • Expert computer skills with advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Proven ability to exercise mature judgment - specifically in recognizing and respecting the confidential nature of corporate and personnel matters.

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project

TRAVEL

May travel CONUS or OCONUS to conduct RDT&E, attend working groups meetings, training, workshops, conferences, or other relevant meetings. Expectation of multiple data collections per year, up to 15%.

DRIVING REQUIRMENTS

Potential for travel. When required, employee will need to complete an MVR check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an office and /or laboratory setting.Laboratory environment includes human testing, so exposure may include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, fumes, vapors, communicable diseases, etc. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lying down or to be or remain in a position or state of inactivity.
